How we track RAM prices

Updated October 13, 2026

Every week we collect the RAM listings of shops in the United States. This page explains which shops, what we leave out and how the figures on the site are computed.

Shops we check in the United States

  • Adorama: 78 kits
  • Amazon.com: 129 kits
  • B&H Photo: 131 kits
  • Best Buy: 38 kits
  • Corsair.com: 67 kits
  • Newegg: 966 kits
  • Walmart: 248 kits

The list grows as we add shops. A shop that blocks automated checks can only be added in another way, so not every large shop is in it yet.

What we leave out

  • Server memory (registered or ECC modules for servers).
  • Used, refurbished and open box items.
  • Listings the shop shows but that cannot be ordered at all.
  • Duplicates within one shop.
  • Outliers: a price per GB more than three times, or less than a quarter of, the median of the same DDR type and form factor in that market, when there are at least 8 comparable kits.

Prices and tax

Prices are shown as the shop shows them, excluding sales tax, in the currency of the market. Shipping is not included. The final price is the one at the shop's checkout.

How the figures are computed

  • Lowest price and median use the kits that are not marked out of stock. A kit is out of stock only when the shop says so.
  • Price per GB is the kit price divided by the total capacity of the kit.
  • Shop spread compares the cheapest offer per GB at each shop: how far the most expensive of those lies above the cheapest.
  • The 4 and 12 week trend compares the median price per GB of the latest week with the week 4 or 12 weeks earlier.
  • The index on the home page compares the median DDR5 desktop price per GB of the latest week with a baseline week at the start of our price history (see below).

The change since tracking start appears once our price history for a market covers at least 8 weeks. Until then the home page shows the date the history starts.

When a page appears

A generated price page is listed in search engines only when at least 8 kits from at least 2 shops are available. Below that, the page stays reachable but is marked noindex, and we do not link to it.
